Windows to Decommission Earlier Versions of Outlook
Starting November 1, 2021, certain versions of Outlook will no longer be able to send or receive emails due to a global change initiated by Microsoft.
Outlook users with any of the following versions of Outlook for Windows (see table below), as part of Office and Microsoft 365 Apps, will no longer be able to connect with Office 365 and Microsoft 365 services. Please ensure you check your version and take appropriate action BEFORE November 1, 2021.

If you are using an older version of Outlook as listed above, please follow these steps:
- Check your Outlook client (application) version by visiting
- If you are currently using any of the older versions, action is required before November 1 to maintain your connection to Microsoft 365 Apps
- Uninstall all previous versions
- Windows Uninstall Office from a PC (microsoft.com)
- Apple OS (Operating System) Uninstall Office for Mac (microsoft.com)
- Upgrade Outlook client
- Windows and Apple OS (Operating System Office 365 ProPlus – Office 365 Hub (mcmaster.ca)
Please note that no changes are necessary if you access Outlook via a browser. You can access your email by logging into the Microsoft 365 portal using your MACID credentials.
