Protect your MacID: never share your credentials

McMaster University has identified instances of services requesting students’ MacID and password to verify transcripts and academic details. Sharing your MacID and password is never safe. Doing so jeopardizes your personal information and could put McMaster’s systems at risk.
Some of these services may appear tied to legitimate background checks for employment opportunities, but no service should ever ask for your login credentials.
How to verify your transcripts safely
For official transcript verification, always use McMaster’s secure services. Visit the McMaster University Registrar’s Website – Degree Verification for trusted options.
Remember:
- Your MacID and password are for your use only. Never share them with anyone.
- Be cautious of third-party services asking for login details, even if they appear professional.
- If you’ve already shared your credentials with a third-party service, change your password immediately using McMaster’s password reset tool, or contact the UTS Service Desk for support.
By taking these steps, you can protect your personal information and support McMaster’s efforts to maintain a secure digital environment.
Stay safe, stay secure, and as always, think twice before sharing your MacID.
