Update required by July 11th: Cisco AnyConnect VPN for Windows

University Technology Services (UTS) urges all Windows users to update their Cisco AnyConnect VPN – the software tool that allows you to remotely connect to the university’s network.
Due to a security vulnerability in the Windows version of Cisco AnyConnect VPN, we will be releasing an automatic update for the Windows version of the software on Tuesday July 11. This update will address the vulnerability and ensure the highest level of security for your VPN connection.
Starting July 11, if you have not updated your software to the newest version, it will be automatically upgraded the next time you connect to AnyConnect VPN. While the automatic update process is typically smooth, there is a slight chance that some users may encounter difficulties. Therefore, we recommend manually upgrading your Cisco AnyConnect VPN software before July 11 so our team can help troubleshoot any issues in advance of July 11.
You can find information about the software update and detailed instructions on the UTS website: https://uts.mcmaster.ca/services/computers-printers-and-software/virtual-private-networking/
Please note that this vulnerability and update does not impact MacOS, Linux, Android, or iOS. Users of these operating systems do not need to update their software and will not receive the automatic update.
