Wireless Network Certificate Update

To ensure secure communication between your device and the wireless infrastructure, McMaster University utilizes a server-side certificate for its wireless networks. On June 28, 2023, University Technology Services (UTS) will update this certificate for all Wi-Fi networks. It’s necessary to renew certificates annually to maintain functionality.
Some devices may require you to acknowledge the new certificate change in order to continue using Wi-Fi connectivity. If a dialog box appears prompting you to verify the authenticity of the server certificate information, select “Trust” or “Connect” to establish the wireless connection. This step ensures that you are not connecting to a “rogue network” pretending to be a McMaster University wireless network.
If you are not prompted to “Trust” the new certificate, or if you encounter any other issues, you may need to “forget” the wireless network profile and set up the connection again following the provided guides. The following McMaster authorized Wi-Fi networks will use the new certificate:
- Mac-WiFi (preferred network)
- Reznet-WiFi (Student Residence)
- Eduroam (for visitors to McMaster)
- Mohawk-WiFi (exclusive to IAHS Mohawk Students)
