New Shared Mailbox Service

McMaster community members can now request access to a new Shared Mailbox service. This service enhances IT security by providing a more secure way to “share” an email address between multiple users, improving collaboration and streamlining email management.
What is a Shared Mailbox?
A Shared Mailbox allows multiple users to access and manage emails from a single account, making it easier to track communication, respond to inquiries and collaborate seamlessly without the need for individual logins or password sharing. Visit Role-Based Account and Shared Mailboxes to learn more about the new service.
How do I request a Shared Mailbox?
Please refer to the instructions on How to request Special Accounts.
Users who have an existing role-based account can migrate their existing role-based accounts to Shared Mailboxes. To learn how, visit Shared Mailbox Migration Information.
What else should I know?
There is no change to the existing Role Based Accounts service. Both the Role Based Account service and the new Shared Mailbox service can be requested through the existing Role Based Account Tool. Please note, though, that due to recent changes, users are now required to log onto McMaster VPN prior to accessing this service.
To learn about the differences between the Role Based Account and the Shared Mailbox services, please see the comparison chart on Role-Based Account and Shared Mailboxes.
For any questions about new Shared Mailbox service, please contact the UTS Service Desk.
