MacID

A MacID is a unique, alphanumeric identifier provided to all McMaster community members to access university systems, resources and applications. Additional permissions may be required for some services.

Your MacID is not your employee or student number.

Users automatically receive a MacID when their relationship to the university has been identified.

Activating your MacID

  • Your MacID can be activated at https://maciam.mcmaster.ca
  • Click on Need help with your MacID (above the LOGIN button)
  • Select the option “I Want to Activate My MacID” and follow the prompts

MacID is used to authenticate services, such as:

  • Mosaic
  • MacDrive
  • Microsoft 365
  • Email
  • LibAccess
  • MacSecure
  • MacVote
  • Virtual Private Network (VPN)
  • Avenue to Learn
  • Student Print Services

Frequently Asked Questions

Go to MacIAM and log in with your expired password. You will be immediately advised that your password has expired and must be changed.

If you have any issues or questions regarding your MacID, use our self service portal https://servicedesk.mcmaster.ca or contact the UTS Service Desk via our live chat located here.

An external email is mandatory for activation. When you activate your MacID, a temporary password will be sent to your external email account.

Non-employees

Individuals who are not a McMaster employee but require access to Mosaic as part of their job function are considered to be Persons of Interest. The Person of Interest designation grants a MacID and an email account on the McMaster server. The Person of Interest request form is available at https://servicedesk.mcmaster.ca. A personal ID number and barcode will be provided to activate your account. You may activate your MacID immediately.

 

Guests

Employees have the ability to request Guest MacID accounts for Wi-Fi access as needed.
