Self-serve password recovery (SSPR) is a tool that vastly improves the process of resetting or recovering a MacID password. It is available for students, faculty members and staff to use to reset passwords for McMaster accounts.
Expandable List
You will need to fill in your recovery information the next time you log into a Microsoft service with your MacID and password, if you haven’t already. You have up to two weeks to fill in the recovery information, after which you will be prompted to complete the process. Once you have registered for SSPR, you will receive an email inviting you to register for Multi-factor Authentication (MFA).
After you have completed registration, each time you want to reset your password, you will be asked to confirm your identity by providing your recovery information. You can confirm your identity by providing proof through a second factor beyond your current password, such as a separate email, text message, push notification or phone call. You can change your recovery information at any time.
To support a more secure McMaster IT experience, SSPR is part of a global password reset of all MacID accounts.
